The Department of Behavioral Sciences is a part of the Faculty of Health Sciences at OsloMet.The Department of Behavioral Sciences offers several bachelor's and further education programs, a master's degree, as well as a PhD program. The department has several active research environments and is a leader in the field of behavior analysis in Europe, both in terms of education and research. The Institute also has a laboratory for studying the behavior of insects. Area of researchThe position is a Ph.D. fellowship in Experimental Analysis of Behavior and will be part of the research group "Cultural selection and behavioral economics." It is expected that the candidate will participate in and contribute to the associated lab group. The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting research using methods from experimental analysis of behavior to investigate the effects of pesticides on bumblebees in a laboratory environment.Main duties of the positionIndependently conduct research on bumblebee behavior and the effects of pesticidesAssist in managing laboratory activities, including the procurement and maintenance of lab equipmentTake responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of the laboratory premises.Contribute to the development of experimental protocols and methodologies for studying bumblebeesBuild necessary equipment and develop software to facilitate experimental procedures and data collectionCollaborate with other researchers and assist in coordinating research projects related to bumblebee behaviorCollect and analyze data using various experimental techniques and behavioral analysis methodsPrepare and present research findings through reports, presentations, and scientific publicationsStay updated with the latest research developments in the field of bumblebee behavior and pesticide effectsAssist in training and supervising undergraduate and graduate students involved in the research projectsQualification requirementsMaster’s degree in behavioral science or psychologyExperience in conducting animal research using experimental behavior analysis methodologiesProficiency in experimental protocols and research methods and data analysis techniques within the fieldExcellent oral and written communication skills in EnglishDesires Qualifications (it is advantageous if you have)Demonstrated ability to build necessary equipment and develop software to facilitate experimental procedures and data collectionExperience in using experimental analysis of behavior to study bee or bumblebee behaviorExperience in managing laboratory activities, including the procurement and maintenance of lab equipmentPublished and submitted works utilizing experimental analysis of behavior methodsWe are looking for candidates who haveAbility to work autonomously and in a methodical manner and complete tasks within specified deadlinesSkill in building and maintaining effective collaborative relationships and professional networksDesire to contribute to the development of the research field.Proficiency in research dissemination and interest in effectively communicating research findingsIt is important to OsloMet to reflect the population of our region, and all qualified candidates are welcome to apply.
